A great hostess gift or the perfect cap to a family dinner
These pies first caught my interest because they look so much like the traditional, wheat-based version. The creators of Natural Feast pies have thought of everything. Their line of five pies: Apple, Blueberry, Apple-Cranberry, Pumpkin and Chocolate Mousse, as well as the plain, ready-to-fill pie shells (they come in sets of 2 per package), are free of the following ingredients: wheat or gluten; eggs or dairy; nuts, soy or corn; processed sugars; nightshades; GMO; additives, preservatives or coloring; trans fats; hydrogenated oil; cholesterol. They are also Kosher, comply with vegan and vegetarian diets, are suitable for diabetics, and of course, are a perfect dessert designed for Celiacs.
Taste and texture
The crust is akin to a graham cracker crust. So, if you’ve been a fan of graham crusts and are looking for a gluten-free replacement, these pies may be your solution. The proprietary blend of crust ingredients has been perfected so that there is none of that grainy texture left on the tongue that you may have come to associate with rice-based baked goods. For optimum results, I recommend following exactly the preparation instructions on the box. Otherwise, you could end up with a crust that is hard and unappetizing.
