Rejuvenatia is dedicated to providing tips and tools to busy people navigating a gluten free life in modern America. You'll find news, reviews, parenting issues and travel tips to help keep you as allergen free as possible.

Living and parenting in a gluten free world

Sure, living the gluten free diet demands a lot of reading and resourcefulness, but it doesn't have to be an all-consuming and expensive lifestyle. Rejuvenatia provides tools and ideas to busy people leading a gluten free life in the real world, outside of the health food store and unchained from the oven.

Gluten-free doesn't mean hours baking

OK, so you've been living with or recently diagnosed with gluten intolerance, Celiac Disease, or wheat allergy. You've done the panic-and-angst routine at the thought of never eating X again. You've spent every waking moment baking exotic substitutes of your favorite foods from scratch.

Mainstream foods your kids will eat

You're not willing to pay the annual equivalent of a Lexus on gluten free snacks, and your kids won't eat the stuff anyway. Kids want normal food they can eat with their friends, not tree bark. What do you do? Where do you turn? Rejuvenatia brings together experts and a community of peers to provide real-life solutions for the modern celiac.

Living in the real world, not just the health food store

If you've done this for a while, you know how pricy the specialty shops are. Sure, I'll pay seven bucks for white bread that smells like dirty socks. What choice do I have? Plenty, actually.

We'll balance mainstream foods and specialty items, offer strategies for travel, dining out, and working with schools, camps and other childcare providers.

Lisa Allen

Rejuvenatia editor Lisa Allen has had extensive experience assisting individuals with Celiac and allergies to soy, corn, dairy, wheat, and almost any other food you can imagine — from blueberries to chicken, in fact. For two years Ms. Allen’s specialty grocery store served as an ad hoc allergy community gathering spot as well as unique resource for gluten-free, dairy free, organic and other specialty foods. She counts her ability to spontaneously invent recipes on-the-spot as one of her more valuable contributions.

Ms. Allen wrote and self-published Eating Clean—100 Appetizing Solutions Wheat-free & Dairy free in 2002. Although initially conceived as a cookbook to accompany a liver detoxification regime, all of the recipes are wheat-free. Gluten-free baking mix can be substituted for the spelt in the baked goods recipes. Writing and a passion for words inspire Ms. Allen’s daily writing, both fiction and non-fiction. You can follow her artistic pursuits on her blog, Dream Big – Live Large.

The month-long liver detoxification diet has made a long-lasting impact on Ms. Allen’s life. Read the story of her health recovery here.

Miserable since birth, I've been an allergy sufferer and asthmatic for most of my life, a gift I've bestowed upon my daughter. Sara suffered terrible rashes as soon as she started eating solid food. We eliminated countless suspect foods, and it wasn't until she started scratching like mad while baking cookies that we discovered a gluten allergy.

I write from real-world experience as a parent who is raising my allergic children right now, not in the hazy, golden past when camp cooks were understanding and doctors had time to listen.

I hope you'll forgive my terse, no-nonsense approach. I'm a busy dad with a busy wife, and we just don't consider raising our children gluten free as a "journey".

I want resources that are succinct and well researched. I want reviews without fluff. I want guidelines without an endless stream of qualifications (Pasta dishes may contain wheat, soy, nuts, barley, dust, insect parts, chicken thighs, milkweed, and carbon-based life forms). We live in the real world, we figure there's a chance of that.

I hope you'll find all of that within these pages, and if you don't, please call me out on it.
